4Project Overview
One bedroom in this home never got warm. Behind the ceiling, the insulated flex run serving it had pulled off its takeoff collar and was delivering conditioned air into the joist bay. We located the disconnection, cleaned the run and the trunk section feeding it, then reconnected and sealed the takeoff properly with a strap, mastic and a re-lapped insulation sleeve.
Challenges
- Disconnected flex run hidden above a finished basement ceiling
- Dust accumulation inside the flex liner across the whole run
- Original connection had been made with tape alone and no strap
What we did
- Access opened at the nearest existing panel rather than cutting new drywall
- Liner and trunk section cleaned before reconnection
- Takeoff refitted with a metal strap, sealed with mastic, insulation re-lapped
- Supply temperature and airflow verified at the register afterwards
