2Project Overview
Years of cooking had left the ceiling-mounted exhaust grille and its baffle filter coated in a hardened grease film that a dishwasher cycle could no longer touch. Beyond the appearance, the loading was measurably cutting extraction. We removed the grille and filter, degreased them off the ceiling, cleaned the accessible duct behind, and refitted everything with the ceiling protected throughout.
Challenges
- Hardened grease film bonded to grille and filter
- Work directly over a finished kitchen and cooktop
- Painted ceiling that could not be marked or degreased in place
What we did
- Grille and filter removed and soaked off-site rather than cleaned overhead
- Accessible duct section brushed and vacuumed while components were out
- Full masking of cooktop and counters during removal and refit
- Extraction re-tested at the grille after refitting
