11Project Overview
The family moved back in after a kitchen and basement remodel and immediately noticed dust settling on every surface within a day of cleaning. The contractor had run the furnace during construction, pulling drywall dust and sawdust into the return and distributing it across the whole system. We cleaned every supply run and both returns with brush and negative-air equipment, cleaned the blower compartment, and finished with an EPA-registered sanitizer through the duct.
Challenges
- Fine construction dust coating the interior of every run
- Sawdust and debris inside the blower compartment and plenum
- Occupied home with a young child — no dust escape acceptable
- Several runs terminating in finished ceiling with delicate registers
What we did
- Negative-air machine on the trunk line so all loosened debris travelled away from the living space
- Every register removed, washed and refitted rather than cleaned in place
- Blower compartment and evaporator coil area vacuumed and wiped
- EPA-registered antimicrobial fogged through the system after cleaning
