2Project Overview
The homeowner called after noticing that towels were coming out damp after a full cycle and the laundry room felt hot and humid. A camera inspection showed the horizontal run behind the wall was packed with compacted lint over roughly six feet — enough to cut measured airflow to a fraction of what the dryer needs. We disconnected the machine, ran rotary brushes through the full run while vacuuming at the connection point, and pulled out several pounds of lint. Drying time went back to a single normal cycle.
Challenges
- Duct run hidden behind finished drywall with no access panel
- Compacted lint that a vacuum alone could not move
- Vent hood damper rusted partly shut, restricting the exit
- Dryer wedged tight against the wall, crushing the transition hose
What we did
- Rotary brush cleaning from both the interior and exterior ends of the run
- Vacuum capture at the dryer connection so no lint entered the room
- Replacement of the exterior hood with a metal damper hood
- New semi-rigid transition hose, routed so the dryer sits flush without crushing it
- Before/after airflow readings shared with the homeowner
